Who Holds You Accountable?

Ambitious Athletics members are made up of people just like you: tired of their lack of progress, direction, or both when it comes to their fitness. Whether they have been a member of a commercial gym or have been working out on their own for months, the lack of progress and direction often stems from the absence of accountability.

I witnessed this same pattern when I was a personal trainer at a commercial gym. Every January there would be gobs of people eager to sign up for a membership; only to fall off the wagon by March. Many people lost motivation and got tired of going about the program alone.

Ultimately, I believe that accountability is a requirement for success in any physical fitness regimen. Without accountability, one usually falters. Having a coach and being a part of a team sets you up for success. This is what I strive to create with www.lorilindsey.us: a community where you feel educated, empowered, and engaged.

Being a part of this community will foster our ability to hold each other accountable. Talking about your fitness goals with others will help you stay on track. The more people know what you want, the more support you’ll have on your side. Sharing doesn’t always guarantee 100% compliance; but it is one tool that has helped me stay focused and connected to my fitness goals.

I’m leaving for Egypt and Jordan on Friday to work with an organization called Empowering Women And Girls Through Sport. While I’m there, I’ll be leading soccer clinics for local refugee camps to inspire females to become more involved in sport. I’m not sure the logistics of the hotels and their amenities, so you better believe I’ll be bringing the basics with me! Here’s what I will be doing:

*Monday: 25 squats, 25 lunges, 25 push-ups

*Wednesday: 50 squats, 50 lunges, 50 push-ups

*Friday: 75 squats, 75 lunges, 75 push-ups

Simple, yet effective and it ensures I get a workout at least three of the days I’m traveling.

Why don’t you join me next week in doing 3 days of activity? You don’t have to do the exact exercises I do or nearly as many reps; but you do want to choose exercises you enjoy! We’ll push ourselves to meet our goals together. We’ll work to become our best selves together. We’ll hold one another accountable and use this site as community.     So I have to modify my workout plan a little bit because I’m nursing a strained muscle in my lower back. That being said, I know that I need to get more active and it’s hard doing that, and staying motivated, on my own. So I am going to give this a shot, and here is what I plan to do for my three days next week:

    Monday — Walk for 30 minutes, yoga stretches for 15 minutes

    Wednesday — Walk for 1 hour, yoga stretches for 30 minutes

    Friday — Walk for 1 1/2 hour, yoga stretches for 30 minutes, 15 minutes of core exercises ( I know this is somewhat vague, but I have to make sure I don’t put unwanted strain on my lower back and have a relapse)

    Okay, looking forward to doing this, and I’m holding myself accountable, and all who also decide to do this.

        So I was able to stick to what my goal was for Monday. I repeated the same regiment for today, Tuesday, as well. Tomorrow I’m scheduled to increase my walking time to one hour. While it’s normally not hard for me to walk that long, it’s gotten colder out here in Southern California, so the motivation is waning somewhat to stay out in it for that long. But I will do it. I have music to listen to and I have the desire to get out and be moving. I will do this!
